Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid that is involved in the body's carbohydrate metabolism. According to its biological value, it is on the same level with vitamins and minerals and can be used as a drug. You can find another name of the acid — thioctic, vitamin N or simply lipoic. It is produced in the form of a crystalline powder of yellowish color, which has a specific smell and bitter taste.
